Resolving actions

  1. Roll 1d20 and add the attribute's modifier: 10 or more makes a decent dish, 13 a dish people notice, 16 a dish they talk about all the way to the next harbour.
  2. A natural 20 silences the dining room; a natural 1 succeeds…
  3. at something other than planned, which may become a recipe.

Attributes

Palate PAL
Tasting, seasoning, guessing an ingredient with your eyes closed.
Technique TEC
Cutting, searing, whisking up a sauce, keeping up the pace.
Composure COM
Surviving the rush, taking the chef's shouting, saving a dish.
Charm CHA
The dining room, the suppliers, the kitchen crew: making people love your cooking.

Special rules

The rush
During service, each round is a dish going out: a success and the dining room feasts; a failure and the plate comes back. Three plates sent back in one service, and the dining room empties (−2 to all rolls until the next successful service).
The recipe notebook
Every noticed dish (13 or more) goes into the notebook under a name chosen by the player. A dish from the notebook can be made again without a roll, and the menu for the star will be made of its pages.
The fish market
Each session, the Storyteller announces what the sea and the market have brought: the catch of the day, the neighbour's vegetables, what is missing. Cooking with the produce of the day gives +2; ordering out of season costs a lot, and word gets around.
