Code of conduct

Last updated: October 19, 2026

Icotale is played together, with strangers as well as friends. This code says what we expect from everyone so the table stays a place people want to come back to. It complements the terms of use; playing on Icotale means accepting it.

Respect at the table

Behind every character there is a person. Do not harass, insult or threaten them, in the game or in the chat.

Respect the veils chosen by the table (topics kept off-screen) and the universe’s age rating. If a player asks to tone down a theme, do it without arguing.

Leave room for others: everyone must be able to make their character act.

Forbidden content, no exceptions

Some content is forbidden everywhere on Icotale, even in fiction, even as a joke: any sexual content involving a minor or a character presented as a minor; described or requested sexual violence; glorification of terrorism, crimes against humanity or hatred towards a group; real instructions to cause harm (weapons, drugs, hacking, self-harm); humiliating or sexual depictions of real people; sharing other people’s personal data.

These rules apply to declarations, whispers to the Narrator, the table chat, reviews and universes created in the Studio.

What fiction allows

Role-playing also tells dark stories: fights, character deaths, betrayals, horror, moral dilemmas. That is allowed, within the universe’s age rating and the table’s veils.

A character can be cruel; a player must never be cruel to other players. When in doubt, ask the table.

Privacy

Do not share your contact details (address, phone, social media) or other players’ in the game or the chat. Do not ask to meet a player you do not know. If someone insists, report them.

The Narrator keeps watch

The Narrator, the artificial intelligence running the game, refuses to tell what this code forbids and steers the story elsewhere.

Faced with a serious request (for example sexual content involving a minor), it can suspend the session and the account of the player concerned. The session is then paused and the Icotale team is notified at once: a human reviews the situation and decides whether to reactivate the player and the session.

Fair play

Do not try to hijack the Narrator (make it reveal its instructions, step out of the game, produce anything other than a story), automate games, exploit a flaw or create multiple accounts to get free Dice. Studio creators publish original universes, without copying existing works or real people.

Reporting

Does a player, a universe, a campaign or a passage of the story bother you? Use the “Report” button: the Icotale team reads every report. For an emergency, write to support@icotale.com.

Sanctions

Depending on severity: a reminder, content removal, session suspension, account suspension, account deletion. A suspension decided by the Narrator is always reviewed by a human, who can lift it.

Clearly illegal content may be reported to the competent authorities.
